The ENRIN focal point for Azerbaijan has taken an active role in UNEP's and other international environmental information activities, such as participating in the UNEP/OECD seminar in Moscow in 1995, the national ENRIN seminar in Kazbegi, Georgia in 1996 and the SoE on Internet workshop in Arendal in 1998.

The SoE Azerbaijan on the Internet was launched in 1997.

A workshop entitled "Information Management and Reporting on the Environment and Sustainable Development in the Caspian Sea Basin" was held in Baku, Azerbaijan during May 5-7, 2001. Representatives from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Russia participated in the workshop.

As part of CEROI project for urban environmental reporting, Sumgayit City is developing an electronic state of the environment report that will be released online.
