- participating in the UNEP/OECD seminar on environmental information systems in the NIS in Moscow in 1995;
- preparation of the Aral Sea Basin state of the environment report on the Internt (launched at the Almaty Ministerial Meeting under 'Environment for Europe' in 2000 and related workshops in Bishkek in 1997, Baku in 1998 and Arendal in 2000;
- participating in regional Aarhus Convention workshops organized in Ashgabat in 2000 and in Dushanbe in 2002; and,
- participating in the meetings of the Task Force on Electronic tools for the Aarhus Convention in Arendal in 2001 and Sofia in 2003.
Three editions of popular electronic state of the environment report have been prepared by Uzbekistan and launched on the Internet between 1999 and 2002. Reports were also published on several CD-ROMs facilitated by UNEP ('Environment in Central Asia' 2000, attachment to UNECE's 'Environmental Performance Reviews' 2001, 'Central Asia: Environment and Development' 2002, 'Environment in Central and Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia' 2003).
An electronic environmental report has been prepared and released on-line for the city of Tashkent.
Uzbekistan has participated in data collection for the 3d pan-European assessment of the environment ('Kyiv Assessment') and supported the collection of environmental stories and a virtual media tour of the Fergana valley for the Ministerial conference 'Environment for Europe' in Kyiv in 2003.
Uzbek journalists participated in environmental media training in almaty in 2002. A training programme in environmental assessment, communication and journalism is planned in Tashkent in 2003 in connection with the 4th Central Asian festival of environmental journalism.
Uzbekistan is an active participant of UNEP-UNDP-OSCE 'Environment and Security' initiative.
Other partners in Uzbekistan include the Scientific-Information Centre of the Interstate Water Coordination Commission, media and NGOs.
