Natural driving forces. The most important natural factor in the Lake Sevan is the trophic level (primary production). A serious trend occurring in the territory of the Sevan National Park is succession of artificial forests to the bush. Actually man initially influences both trends.

Human induced driving forces. Acclimatization of white fish (Coregonus lavaretus) and silver crussian (Carassius auritus gibelio) and crayfish (Astacus leptodactylus) in the lake caused an influence on the natural ecological processes. At present the role of endemic species in fishery is less than 10%. Illegal fishery threats a fish stocks The artificial woodland around the shoreline composed from alien to the basin of the lake species. A project to re-introduce a native plants requires considerable funds and activities actually are cancelled. The main sources of pollution are sewage, agriculture, industry, and recreation. Measures need to be taken to prevent pollution are expensive and not effective. Local erosion processes as a result of unauthorized logging and overgrazing are developed especially near the villages.
