Belarus is one of the most polluted countries in Europe due to the transboundary transport of pollutants. The state of its air is defined by the external sources (81% for sulfur and 85% for nitric oxides). Belarus itself
is not a significant source of a transboundary air pollution by this group
of pollutants. According
to the 2001 data, 70% (926 800 tons) of total emissions come from road
transport, and 30% (392 100 tons) from stationary sources. |
