** - The trial operation, of a sulphur-extracting installation in Boiler 11 (Block 7) of the Maritza Iztok-2 Thermo-Electric Power Station during almost the whole 2001 has not been taken into account in the Table above. In 2001 Boiler 11 has utilized 1 930 783,4 tons of lignite with a sulphur content (Saverage) of 2,6 %. If we assume that the installation efficiency is 90 % and that the installation has been operating 5 000 hours per year, the reduced emission quantity of SO2 was around 55 000 tons, i.e. the actual emissions of this pollutant by the energy sector for 2001 may be considered 730 000 tons.
