What is the general situation with the forest? What are the impacts of forests? What is being done to solve the problems
The forests are particularly important for Bulgaria. The size of the forest resource amounts to 3 980 032 ha. (35,86%) of the country’s territory. Of these forests, 3 466 223 ha., i.e. 31,22%, is subject to logging. Out of these 60 % consist of natural forests. Their sustainability is a priority of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests (MAF). A more effective system that balances the environmental and the economic interests shall respond best to the requirements of the society.
