Geographical Informational Center of Georgia was established in February 1994

The purpose of the center is to collect information on Socio- economical and ecological issues, compilation and analyses for its further distribution: working out geoinformational and experimental systems; to supply decision makers by appropriate information to involve in international cooperation.

Since 1994 the Center cooperates with the Ministries of Environment and Agriculture and Food and the Department of Socio - economical Information.

The Center has provided following activities:

• The Center implemented first and second stages for establishing of Environmental information network (supported by financial assistance of UNEP/GRID- Arendal, Norway) A report on the state of the environment in Georgia was transmitted to Internet.

• The Project on Inventory of Central Kolkheti Marshes- financed by Wetland International

• In collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food was worked out project on pre - cadastre providing activities

• Was designed the project proposal on elaboration of Georgian Socio- economical Geoinformation system. Customer- Department of Socio- economical Information.

Members of "G.info":
Malkhaz Khurtsidze- GIS database specialist. Director of the Geoinformational Center of Georgia. Was born in 1962. In 1992 graduated from the faculty of Geography and Geology of Tbilisi State University with the background of Geoinformation and Cartography. Since 1991- until 1995 he was working at the laboratory of the scientific research of the state of the environment at Tbilisi State University. Working on Geoinformational issues.
Zurab Jincharadze-GIS database specialist- Was born in 1965 In 1991 he graduated from the faculty of Geography and Geology of Tbilisi State University with the background of physical geography Since 1991- until 1995 he was working at the laboratory of the scientific research of the state of the environment at Tbilisi State University. In 1994 he graduated post graduate studies on Environmental Protection and Rational use of Natural resources. In 1996 he graduated Central European University in Budapest and Received Masters Degree in Environmental Protection.
Tamar Bakuradze - GIS database specialist. Was born in 1970. In 1994 graduated the faculty of Geography and Geology of Tbilisi State University with the background of Geoinformation and Cartography. She is participating in Postgraduate program on cartography and cadastre.
Manana Kurtubadze- Database specialist. Was born in 1965 In 1988 she graduated from the faculty of Geography and Geology of Tbilisi State University with the background of physical geography She is working at the laboratory of the scientific research of the state of the environment at Tbilisi State University. In 1995 she graduated post graduate studies on Environmental Protection and is working on cartographic issues. Additionally she is training students in cartographic graphics.
Mamuka Gwilava -GIS database specialist. Expert of Itegrated Coastal Zone Management.Was born in 1962. In 1985 he graduated from the Tbilisi State University Faculty of Physics. In 1989 he received Bechelors Degree He is working in the laboratory of solid particles of Tbilisi State University as a senior scientific researcher. He is in Ginfo since January of 1995.
