The far southern part of Kobuleti coastal plain is represented by intense development of biogenic genesis deposits - swamp silt-containing clays, lake sapropeli and, particularly, peat. Here, at the most lowered part of the plain and its adjacent dunes zone with the coast -facing shape behind, there are two sufficiently large swamps (Ispani I and Ispani II), which include fairly powerful quire of biogenetic deposits. By means of boring 9-14 meters from swamp surface lake-river depositsit are created and primarily lake ones are developed. Lake deposits are represented by sapropeli, which is covered by peat horizon on top. Its capacity flactuates from 5 to 9 meters. Absolute age of the oldest peat layer (found in the most deep area) being developed in Kobuleti swamps are 4480+300 years. According to this data it is revealed, that the swamp-creating process and development of biogenic deposits at Kobuleti Plain Middle Eocene started approximately 5-6 thousand years ago and has been permanently continuing .
The morphology of the relief is simple, the part of the low-lying area is characterised by almost ideally flat surface, which is imperceptibly inclined to the sea. In coastal zone the of marine-accumulationary origin relief forms are developed. Within Kolkheti Plain along the whole length of the sea coast the zone of coast-facing dunes are stretched, which are fairly clearly distinguished morphologically, as from the present beach surface, as the low plain that is immediately adjoining the sea.
Ispani swamps are natural ecosystems, by their origin. Compensation of sinking of land was being reached by means of excessive accumulation, which was caused by concentration of the plain of decomposed materials on surface brought out in large quantity abundant in water by rivers of Caucasus and ridges of Achara and Imereti. The development of the process accompanied by tectonic sinking was promoted by the influence of jenning of the sea caused by erosion on the drainage of surface waters.
Water level in wetlands is 0.7m. Water is hydrocarbon (with CL, Na, Mg, Ca). The depth is 6m.
