North Kolkheti Wetland - Location


Total Area: North Kolkheti 2590.7 ha
Separate Sites: Jakobi - 460.3ha, Meore Gudava - 404ha, Gadidi - 460ha, Nakargali - 609.3ha.

Altitude: 3.5m above sea level (min. 0.5m, max. 12.5m)

The Northern part of Kolkheti Lowland consists of four sites: Jakobi, Meore Gudava, Gagidi and Nakargali. For today the surrounding territories are significantly changed . The wetlands are important, as for migratory as for local nesting birds and their winteries. The Northern area comprises the territory from the river Galidzga to the river Engury. From the coast the area reaches the Ochamchire-Zugdidi highway.

Jakobi wetland. is Located between rivers Okumi and Galidzga on the both sides of river Jakoba.
Meore-Gadidi wetland. is Located between the sea shore on the west and dune on the east.
Gadidi wetland. They are located between rivers Didi Eristskali on the north and Okvinore on south. They are separated from the sea by the coastal dune belt.
Nakargali wetland. Occupies the lowest part of the Samurzakano lowland and is located between the mouth of the river Enguri and the Black Sea.
