Population
The population of the republic of Tajikistan is more then 6 million people. The main part of population is dwelled in the valleys of Southern and Northern Tajikistan (80 % of population). Vast alpine districts are poorly inhabited. more 70% of population live in countryside. Tajikistan is a multi-ethnic country. At present, more then 100 ethnic groups are living here. Native inhabitants of Tajikistan are Tajiks, who constitute the majority of population - 68 per cent. It should be mentioned, that 46% of population are teenagers, 47% of population is 18-55 years old, and 7% of population over 55 years old.
