Anthropogenic emissions by sources and removals by sinks of greenhouse gases
<< EMISSION OF PERFLUOROCARBONS >>
The only source of perfluorocarbons emissions in Tajikistan is the aluminum industry, which forms up to 100% of these emissions. CF4 comprises the biggest part of emissions (91%); the smallest part is comprised by C2F6 (9%).

Tajik Aluminum Plant is located 53 km west from Dushanbe. The plant capacity is more than 500 thousand tons of primary aluminum a year. Besides, the plant produces various aluminum alloys and construction profiles. The plant is a giant of the Tajik metallurgy. The plant consumes a lot of electricity and natural gas.

Global average coefficient of PFC emissions (1,4 kg of ÑF4 per 1 ton of produced aluminum) was adopted in national inventory. Given that the production of aluminum decreased from 450,3 thousand tons in 1990 to 195,6 thousand tons in 1998, PFC emissions decreased respectively by 57%. The biggest volume of PFC emission was indicated in 1990 - 0,69 Gg, which correspond 4,647 Gg of ÑÎ2 equivalent. The least PFC emissions indicated in 1997 -0,29 Gg.
