The regulation of the land relations in the country is carried out according to the Land Legislation. The legislation obliges industrial and construction organizations to not admit pollution of lands by wastes and waste water. To protect land resources and fertility of soils, the melioration of lands plays the great important role.

The area of land under irrigation increases each year and there is, correspondingly, an increase in the level of subsoil water. At the same time the irrigation collectors do not provide drainage of the out-fiow. In this connection, it is necessary to reconstruct immediately the main irrigation collectors - the main left bank collector in Lebap velayat and the Ozyorni and Daryalik collectors in Dashkhovuz velayat. .

Organization of active struggle against erosion is related first of all to systematic research-practical works, correct accommodation of agricultural lands, realization of appropriate measures for agro-, forest-, and hydro-melioration.

The condition of irrigated land can be improved only by observing the laws of agriculture, following scientific regimes and techniques of irrigation, maintaining high quality construction, and making extensive use of irrigation collectors and drainage systems. For the agro-climatic conditions of Turkmenistan, rational use of the land and water resources allow two-three harvests of vegetables and melons per year. This would help in the achievement of sustainable food provision for the population.
