  The Syr Darya

The Syr Darya river basin is located in the territory of Kyrgyzstan, Tadjikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan.

The Syr Darya is formed by the merge of the Naryn and Charadarya rivers in the eastern part of the Fergana Valley. In the  Syr Darya river basin  there are 6 provinces of the Republic of Uzbekistan: Andizhan, Namangan, Fergana, Tashkent, Dzhizak and Syr Darya.

By its length ( 2137 km) the Syr Darya is the largest river of Central Asia and by its water area it concedes only to the Amu Darya.

The greatest number of its inflows are in the Fergana Valley. After the Fergana Valley the large rivers of Angren, Chirchik, Keles and Arys (Kazakhstan) inflow to the Amy Darya river. The area of the Syr Darya basin makes up 150100 sq. km.
