The Aral sea and the Priaralye

  As a result of development irrigated monoculture in region, on a background of deterioration of quality of the  grounds, the increase of water consumption and number of arid years the inflow of water  from the rivers  Amu Darya and Syr Darya into the Aral sea in the beginning of 80-th years practically closured.

has resulted in infringement of water balance,
and as a consequence, to drying up of the sea. Since 1960-th years the sea has lost more than 75 % of volume and half of aquatory, it has lossed from coast in some places more, than on 120 kms, reserving dried up sea bottom in the territory, that exceeds 33 thousand sq. km

The level of salinity of the sea has trebled and sea ecosystems and bodies were completely changed also
     Occurring on eyes of one generation the process of desertification that on scales and intensity hasn't analogues in the world and the consequences these are not investigated yet. Already now it is possible to speak confidently, that the sea has lost its fish-husbandry, hunt-husbandry, transport and recreationary meaning.

Most distinctly negative
consequences of drying-up of the sea
were reflected in the Southern Priaralye, that makes 19,2 % of territory of the Central Asia or 52 % from the total area
of the Priaralye region (Karakalpakstan,
Khorezm area of Uzbekistan and Tashauz
area of Turkmenistan)
Earlier lakes of delta of the Amu Darya was uniform water system.Reduction of run-off and fall in sea level have resulted in drying a plenty of lakes by the total area more than 60 thousand hectares.

zone up to 15 thousand hectares of pastures.
The amount of  living here mammals and birds are reduced more than in two times

    In connection with drying up of the sea, in the Priaralye the difficult complex of ecological problems, having on an origin and a level of consequences for running a facilities(economy) and health of the population global character was generated
