Demography
In accordance with the key social indicators the Republic of Uzbekistan is a developed country. The level of human potential is enough high as compared with a level of the incomes. The literacy rate of the adult population is comparable with indicators of the economically developed countries. Years of training have reached 11. Citizens have high life expectancy of 69 years.
Uzbekistan is the most populated part of the Central Asia. 39.9% of the Central Asian population live in Uzbekistan, thus country ranks first in the Central Asian countries and third in CIS countries in total population. The population of the Republic of Uzbekistan had reached 22.912.100 inhabitans. The population doubling time is 25 years.
The natural and climatic conditions (mountain, desert, arid climate) determine a high concentration of the population mainly in oases, primary in mountain valleys on the river banks.

The foothill areas of the irrigated agriculture as well as the Fergana valley, Tashkent and Khorezm regions are the most density of popullation. The average densities of population in Andijan, Fergana and Namangan regions located in the Fergana valley are 484.3, 350.3 and 225.3 inhabitant per one square km respectively.
This indicator is the lowest in desert areas. In the Republic of Karakalpakstan the average density of population is 8.35 inhabitant per square km., in Navoiy region it is 6.7.
Over 60 % of the population lives in rural areas, thus the active part of the population works mainly in agricultural sector. The capital of the Republic of Uzbekistan is characterized by the high population growth rates. Over 2 million inhabitants live in Tashkent. Such cities, as Samarkand, Bukhara, Andijan and Fergana play the important role in the Uzbekistans's economy. The role of the new industrial towns such as Almalik, Angren, Chirchic, Ahangaran is noticeable and high too.
Uzbeks, Kazakhs, Kyrgyzs, Tadjiks, Turkmens are the native population and constitute 84% of the total population of Uzbekistan. The largest non-native group is Russians (8,3%), majority of them lives in Tashkent, in areas surrounding the capital and in oblast towns.
