GRID-Arendal carries out many initiatives in the Baltic Sea Region, under the
auspices of its Nordic/Baltic Programme. These include maintaining a satellite
office in Stockholm and  acting as a member of the Senior Officials Group
of the Baltic 21 network.

Currently GRID-Arendal runs a project 'Information
management system and infrastructures for the transboundary Daugava/Zapadnaya
Dvina and Nemunas/Neman river basins'  (DatabasiN) in Latvia,
Lithuania, Belarus and Northwest Russia.
